Our Mission
To make as many people as much like Jesus Christ in the shortest time possible.
Our Vision
Making disciples and starting churches.
Structure
Grace Pointe Church is a multi-site church. You may be asking "What does that mean"? Here are a few key characteristics that help frame the multi-site paradigm.
• Each site is unique and has a different flavor of diversity’
• Teaching is live at each site (we do not use video feeds or satellites)
• The philosophy and function are the same at both sites
• John Bell (Our Sr. Pastor) teaches at both sites each month
• Worship is unique (different styles) at each campus and live
• Kids & Youth ministries are staffed at each site and unique to the site
• All ministries are unique to each campus and yet very similar
History
Naperville Bible Church formed in 1964, when a small group of believers began worshiping in a garage. Soon thereafter, the group decided to use Highlands School until a piece of property could be located and purchased. Homes of church members were used for weekly activities while the Sunday services were conducted at Highlands School. As the church grew, it became evident that other accommodations were necessary.
Eventually, the first down payment was made on Gregory Farm. This is the property on which the present Naperville Campus is located. It was a former working farm, and Naperville was then largely a farming community. Through the early history of the church, the then existing barn was used for Christian education, and a house on the property was used as a living quarters for some of the pastoral staff. As a matter of fact, our multi-purpose room (gymnasium) was the original sanctuary and our current sanctuary sits on the site of the former stable.
In 1989, NBC took a leap of faith. For two years, members of the church family pitched in and built most of the present sanctuary themselves, with plenty of help and inspiration from the Lord. Still growing . . . By 1996 it was apparent that the 'new' facilities were being outgrown. A search committee began looking for a larger site to relocate the church. A suitable site could not be located in Naperville. A second site was proposed. In February of the year 2000 the purchase of 20 acres at 127th Street and 248th Street was completed. Later that year a new congregation began meeting at Scullen School in south Naperville. This new site in Plainfield needed a name expressing both its unique identity and its connection to the existing church -- Grace Pointe, Naperville and Plainfield -- came into being. In January 2006, the Plainfield Campus moved to Plainfield North High School.
The most thrilling part of our rich history is the story of many who have found life, purpose and freedom through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We hope you will consider becoming a part of what He is doing here, and take advantage of the activities and opportunities that we offer. We are convinced that you will find our church an exciting, challenging, helpful place for you and your family.
Beliefs
God
God is one Being existing in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is the Sovereign, the Creator, and the Sustainer of all things. God is the source and the end of all truth.
Scriptures
The Scriptures are the written Word of God, inerrant in their original writings, the infallible authority by which He directs and governs all our activities.
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the eternal begotten Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary -- Truly God -- truly man. Through Christ's life, death, resurrection and ascension, He accomplished a decisive victory over sin for His people and established His Kingdom among men.
Man
Man was created in the image of God as a rational, moral, spiritual being. Man sinned in Adam and fell with him in his first transgression. Man's fall affected him spiritually, intellectually and physically. He is restored only by the renewing grace of the Holy Spirit and the cleansing blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Christ's Return
The Lord will return in glory and triumph for the final judgment and the consummation of His kingdom.
At Grace Pointe we are very focused on our mission and vision. The leadership is constantly re-evaluating and striving to make sure everything we do falls in line with the following two statements.
